Magnus Sundling appointed as new Chief Operating Officer (COO) / Chief People Officer (CPO) at Arctic Sweden Visitors Board
On March 16, Magnus Sundling will assume the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) / Chief People Officer (CPO) at Arctic Sweden Visitors Board. With extensive experience in leadership, HR, and business development, he steps into a key role for the organization’s continued growth.
Magnus most recently comes from a role as Head of Business at Boden Business Park and has previously worked as HR Manager within an international company, run his own business as an HR consultant, and held leading roles in both trade union activities and various business organizations. In recent years, he has also represented Boden in Norrbotten’s municipalities’ network for business managers.
“We are very pleased to welcome Magnus to Arctic Sweden Visitors Board. He has solid experience in leadership, organizational development, and collaboration, and a strong commitment to the development of Norrbotten and the hospitality sector. His experience and profile complement our fantastic team, which contributes every day to Norrbotten’s continued expansion as an international destination”, says Annika Fredriksson, CEO.
“I have a very good role and an inspiring job where I am today, but I look forward to working fully with the sector that is closest to my heart. Working with hospitality issues for the entire county feels both inspiring and meaningful”, says Magnus Sundling, while also emphasizing that he still has full focus on his current role for business in Boden at Boden Business Park until his last day of employment.
In his new role at Arctic Sweden Visitors Board, Magnus will lead and develop the organization’s operational activities and HR strategy, with a focus on structure and collaboration. He will be part of the management team and a strategic partner to the CEO and financial manager, and will also represent the organization in regional, national, and international contexts.
Magnus works closely with the hosporality sector in his current position, but worked even closer when he spent a season as a guide at Treehotel. He believes that the hospitality sector is – and will become – an increasingly important basic industry in northern Sweden, not least in light of the major societal transformation underway.
“The hospirality sector companies in Arctic Sweden have world-class hospitality. If there is anything they can do, it is to attract people from all over the world”.
When Magnus is not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors – in the mountains, in the forest, or on the water.
“Nature is where I thrive best. If I’m not hiking in the mountains with a fly rod in my hand and fishing for char, I’m sleeping in a hammock in the forest, or relaxing on my boat in the archipelago”.
He will assume his new role on March 16.
